Classic Spanish Sevillana Knife
Sevillana-style knife with a small bull horn handle.
Classic Spanish knife handcrafted with a tempered steel blade, hollow-ground in chrome-vanadium steel. The handle is made from genuine, sanitized bull horn, shaped and polished by hand. The spring is crafted from “Teja”-style steel, engraved with a burin, and features a traditional lever-lock mechanism. The upper ferrule and lower bolster are made of silver-plated alpaca (nickel silver), in a small size.
The classic Spanish knife originated in late 16th-century Spain, following a decree by Charles I that prohibited non-nobles from carrying long-bladed weapons (especially swords). The knife allowed the blade to be concealed; in addition to being small, it was easy to handle and more affordable than a sword.
